Something not right, or an idea for ALLISON? Email hello@allisonastronomy.com and you’ll get a reply from the person who makes the app.
It helps to include your device model, the iOS version and what you were pointing at or asking.
Common questions
The sky on screen doesn’t line up with the real one.
Your iPhone’s compass needs calibrating, or something magnetic is nearby. Step away from cars, metal railings and speakers, take the case off if it has a magnet, then choose Calibrate compass in the menu: put a star or planet you recognise in the middle of the screen and ALLISON corrects the heading to match.
How do I ask a question?
Hold the ALLISON button and speak, or tap to type. Try “Where’s Jupiter?”, “What’s that?” while pointing at something, “What’s up tonight?” or “When is the space station over?”.
ALLISON didn’t understand me.
Free-form questions use Apple Intelligence, which needs a supported device with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings. Without it, ALLISON understands common phrasings: “Where’s…”, “What’s that?”, “What’s up tonight?”, “Show me…”. Naming the object usually helps.
Can I change ALLISON’s voice?
ALLISON uses your Spoken Content voice (Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices) unless you choose another in ALLISON’s Settings.
Why is the screen red?
That is red night mode. Red light keeps your eyes adapted to the dark. Switch it off with the Red night mode toggle in the menu.
The space station or satellites are missing.
Satellite orbits are downloaded from CelesTrak and refreshed when you are online. Open the app once with a connection before you head to a dark site.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The catalog, art, encyclopedia and ALLISON herself all run on the device. Only satellite orbits, the sky forecast and “what others are looking at” need a connection.
How do I restore Pro on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple Account and use Restore Purchases on the ALLISON Pro screen. Lifetime and active subscriptions come back at no charge.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose ALLISON Pro. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for, and you never lose anything that is free.
How do I stop sharing what I look at?
Turn off “What others are looking at” in ALLISON’s Settings. It only ever shared an object’s catalog identifier.
Requirements
iOS 26 or later. Asking ALLISON in your own words uses Apple Intelligence on supported devices; elsewhere she understands common phrasings. Runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
